Field: Soledad de Graciano Sánchez, San Luis Potosí state
Marital Status: Married (one child)

Conversion Experience

At the age of 14, while I was attending youth camp in Cuernavaca, Morelos, God touched my heart, and now I belong to His flock by Jesus’ precious blood shed at Calvary.

Calling and Preparation

In 1995, when I was 15, I enrolled at Mount Horeb Bible Institute in the state of Hidalgo. I had planned on attending the school for one year, but the Lord’s will convicted me to stay and graduate. After completing my studies, I ministered through soulwinning in several local communities.

Later, I returned to San Luis Potosi and worked for a year with Bro. Pablo, my home church pastor. In 2000, I decided to help different local pastors with soulwinning. Paulo Martinez, pastor of Cristo Viene Baptist Church allowed me to base my ministry under him, and I evangelized in eight communities.

From December 2000 through May 2003, I pastored a church in La Loma. However, the members began adopting Pentecostal doctrines, and we mutually agreed that I had to resign.

In August 2002, I married Norahy Martinez. We have been blessed with a son, Caleb.

The Field

We have served in Soledad de Graciano Sanchez since September 2002, and Pastor Luis Ramos has faithfully supported us. It is a blessing to see God working in our city.

San Luis Potosí, Mexico

Mexico consists of 31 states and one federal district. Spanish is the official language, but one million Mexicans speak other indigenous languages. The population is approximately 105 million and grows by 1.8 million yearly. Mexico’s climate varies from dry desert wasteland conditions in the north to rainy, tropical conditions in the southeast and a mild climate in the central plateau.

San Luis Potosí is a land-locked state, located near the center of Mexico, with a population of 670,537. The name, San Luis, was granted to the capital city in honor of its founder, Luis of Leija. Potosí, the name of a wealthy Bolivian mining city, was added later after the area became well-known for its rich silver mines. Today, San Luis Potosí is a financially prosperous state, but most of its people are very poor.

However, the spiritual condition of the Mexican people is worse. The Roman Catholic Church has been deeply etched into all areas of Mexican life. Ninety percent of all Mexicans profess Roman Catholicism. It was present in Mexico from the first days of the Spanish Conquest. Throughout the country’s history, the Catholic Church has been the main unifying force of society. Many facets of Mexico’s Catholic Church come from native forms of worship as old gods were identified with saints and included in the Catholic religion. The most potent symbol of Mexican Catholicism is the Virgin of Guadalupe, a manifestation of the Virgin Mary who reportedly appeared on a hill near Mexico City in 1531.

Mexican people are searching for the truth and are open to the Gospel, but groups of American cults such as Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, and Seventh-Day Adventists have gained millions of converts in the spiritually dry hearts of the people.

Thousands are saved each year as Bible-believing preachers tell them of the love of Christ. Pilot American missionaries, with established works, are training nationals in the ministry of the Gospel. National missionaries are sent out by the hundreds each year to win souls in cities, towns, and villages.

Global Church Planters desires to financially help these national missionaries (we call them Pioneers) start thousands of churches in Mexico.
